MATERIALS
Joe’s Tiling supplies all materials when possible so that quality work is assured and the lowest price is achieved for you. High quality materials can be supplied at a significant discount, some of which come with a ten year guarantee. Mapei, Dunlop and ExcelBond are the three main brands used by Joe's Tiling.

Mapei products are thought of as the best prducts by many top tilers and 26 colours of grout and silicone are available. Joe's Tiling is trained in the use of Mapei grouts (inc epoxy), adhesives and self leveling compounds. Whilst Mapei products are available in a wide range of colours, their prices are still very reasonable. Tiling work that looks different to the norm without costing a lot can be achieved by using their range of coloured grouts and silicones.
Aquamix products are used when possible to seal natural stone such as slate as the fumes of other sealers are generally hazardous to health, bad for the environment and leave a foul smell in the home for a few hours.
WATERPROOFING / TANKING & CHIPBOARD FLOORS
The selection of materials for chipboard flooring and plasterboard shower walls requires careful consideration as these are two of the most problematic areas to tile. Waterproofing/tanking is necessary in shower areas made with plasterboard (as it is partly made of paper) and it is highly recommended in all other situations as well, this is because shower areas are prone to damp problems that can cost a lot to repair.
Chipboard flooring is very common in modern buildings even though it is not an ideal substrate to tile onto. Chipboard warps when wet and also breaks down, this causes tiles to come lose or grout to discolour. Joe's Tiling only tiles chipboard floors following the guidelines of top manufacturers such as BAL and Ardex to ensure the work lasts. Joe's Tiling has been selected by property maintenance companies to re-tile many chipboard floors which were tiled incorrectly by other tilers. Only 2-part adhesives (not regular flexible adhesives) such as BAL Fastflex can be used for tiling directly onto chipboard flooring and this is only possible on particular types of water resistant chipboard. A water resistant or waterproof membrane is required to protect non water resistant chipboard.
